Export
Delivery presets, codecs, frame rate, metadata, preflight and destination.
The Export view collects destination, format, resolution, codec, frame rate, audio, dynamic range, VR metadata and checks.
Set the output
- Open Export with ⌘E or choose File > Export Queue....
- Choose a delivery preset, such as YouTube 360, VR180 3D, 360 3D, Quest Local, Fulldome 4K, Apple Spatial Video or Standard MP4, or set the options yourself.
- Check the output format, resolution, codec and mode (Per file or Single).
- For H.264, HEVC and MV-HEVC, leave the bitrate on automatic or set it manually.
Codecs
- H.264 and HEVC 8-bit: compact delivery for every player.
- HEVC 10-bit: headsets, 360 platforms and HDR.
- MV-HEVC 3D: Apple spatial video. See 3D and spatial video.
- ProRes 422 family: masters and dome playback. ProRes 4444 and 4444 XQ keep transparency.
- HEVC with Alpha: compact transparency for Apple players.
Frame rate
Exports keep the source frame rate exactly, including 23.976, 29.97 and 59.94 fps, with identical frame durations. Different rates in a single movie are converted to the highest one, or to a rate you choose.
VR metadata
Auto writes what the output needs: 360 and VR180 metadata, 3D layout and Apple projected media. Off writes none. Metadata tells players how to show the file; it does not change the pixels.
Preflight and export
- Read the preflight: blocking items must be fixed, warnings deserve a check.
- Click Export To and choose the destination and the name.
- Click Test 10s to check a short sample in the target player.
- Click Export Queue.
While an export runs, the Mac does not sleep, quitting asks for confirmation and updates wait. If an export is cancelled or fails, the part already written is kept when it can be played.
